When I was a little girl my great aunt came to me one day with a proposal. If I learned and performed some of her favorite songs, she would save her dimes so we could go to Hollywood one day. That was the one condition she was very clear on – I had to keep singing for her. See how she worked years into that deal? ha.
I learned each song, and even put on shows in the middle of my grandmother’s living room with my sisters all decked out in fake furs and jewelry.
Fast forward, not only would I make it to Hollywood but I’d make it to Dubai, Beirut, St. Petersburg, Kiev, Baku, and more. And it wasn’t on dimes, it was on a singing career that was nurtured when I was just a little girl.
I quickly realized it wasn’t Hollywood that I wanted anymore, it was the countries halfway around the world – the water caves in the middle east, the frozen cities in the far east, the old fishing villages, the desert cities on the gulf, etc.
I started touring these cities frequently and making friends along the way. I was also getting to experience some of the local culture. I was hooked!
I want to start opening some of those moments to you – as well as creating new ones. This is dedicated to sharing other parts of cultures we don’t always hear about – some incredible parts of cultures – as well as the off-the-beaten path cities that aren’t always traveled to. We’ll start virtually together and we’ll then I look forward to creating them in-person.
